HW Welders swept to a thumping 6-1 defeat of Larne at Tillysburn Park to pick up their first points of the campaign.

Christopher Middleton opened the scoring after six minutes when his shot took a deflection off defender Abass Couliraly.

That was how it stayed until early in the second half when Scott McMillan touched home a David Graham corner from left, before David Rainey added a third with a header from similar circumstances.

Luckas Gwiazda made it 4-0 on 53 minutes after losing his marker to nod home from close range after the ball had been floated over from the right.

Larne pulled one back on 72 minutes following good work from Chris Fromanger which saw him collect the ball, get himself into position and beat Jason Craughwell with a low, long range effort at the near post.

However, Rainey doubled his tally for the Welders seven minutes later after meeting William Armstrong's cross from the left before, right at the end, substitute Josh Boyd scored the goal of the game from out on the right after spotting Stephen McConnell off his line.
