Brighton Sign Japanese Striker Kiko Seike for Women’s Super League

Brighton & Hove Albion, a prominent club in the Women’s Super League (WSL), have secured the signing of Japanese striker Kiko Seike. The 27-year-old player will join the club after representing Japan at the Paris Olympics this summer.

Seike, who scored 20 goals as Urawa Reds won the Japanese top-flight league last season, has also netted 7 goals in 21 appearances for the Japanese national team. Brighton’s managing director of women’s and girls’ football, Zoe Johnson, expressed delight in welcoming Seike, who brings a wealth of experience at the highest level.

“We’re thrilled to have Kiko join the club. She’s a proven goalscorer at the top level and will be a great addition to our squad.”

This signing marks Brighton’s second acquisition of the summer transfer window, following the arrival of Netherlands defender Marisa Olislagers on a free transfer from FC Twente.

The 2024-25 WSL season is set to commence on September 21st, with Brighton aiming to build on their fourth-from-bottom finish in the previous campaign. The club is yet to announce a permanent replacement for former manager Melissa Phillips, who was sacked in February. Mikey Harris has been serving as the interim head coach for the remainder of the current season.
