Football News Update: Carlisle United Re-sign Striker Charlie Wyke

In a significant move for the football club, Carlisle United have announced the re-signing of striker Charlie Wyke on a two-year contract. The 31-year-old forward previously made 89 appearances in all competitions for the Cumbrians before departing for Bradford City in 2017.

Last season, Wyke scored seven goals in 18 league appearances for Wigan Athletic, before joining Rotherham United on loan in February. His return to Carlisle United is a welcome boost for the team and its supporters.

“As you can imagine, I’m absolutely delighted to get Charlie back into the club,” expressed Carlisle United manager Paul Simpson. “Everyone can see from his record that he is a proven goalscorer, and we’re all really looking forward to working with him.”

Wyke’s journey has not been without its challenges, as he suffered a cardiac arrest during training in 2021. However, the striker has been an active part of a campaign to encourage more people to learn CPR, underscoring his commitment to both his sport and the well-being of the community.

This latest signing is sure to be welcomed by football fans across the region, as Carlisle United look to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, Champions League, FIFA World Cup, and Women’s World Cup tournaments, as well as the domestic competitions such as the Premier League, EFL Cup, EFL Championship, EFL One, EFL Two, and FA Cup.
