Football News Roundup: Celtic Prioritize Goalkeeper Signing, Potential Permanent Deals for Loan Stars

In the world of football, Celtic are making moves to strengthen their squad as they prepare to defend their Scottish Premiership title. Assistant manager John Kennedy has revealed that the club is actively seeking a new goalkeeper to replace the recently retired Joe Hart.

“The club has been working hard on that and some targets have been identified. It’s a key position for us, we know it’s a position we need to get in and we want to do it as soon as we can,” Kennedy told Sky Sports News. He further added, “Hopefully in the coming weeks we can have some news on that.”

The Hoops are also looking to secure permanent deals for two players who impressed on loan last season. Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in Norwich striker Adam Idah and Benfica midfielder Paulo Bernardo, both of whom made significant contributions during their loan spells.

“Again, there are a lot of conversations taking place as we come back for pre-season and hopefully in the coming weeks some things will start to happen,” Kennedy said. “There are a lot of plates spinning and a lot of work to be done.”

Celtic will begin their Premiership title defense at home against Kilmarnock on August 4, live on Sky Sports. The assistant manager is hoping for a strong start to the season, acknowledging that the team “probably lacked a bit of consistency” last year.

“I think we missed a few key players at different points of last season so pre-season is key to make sure the players are robust and strong going into the season. We know when we’ve got a fully fit squad, playing the best we can we’re a hard team to stop,” Kennedy said.
