Euro 2024, Champions League, and Major Tournaments
Didier Deschamps, the French national team manager, has been a revelation as the head of Les Bleus, guiding them to World Cup glory in 2018. However, the European Championship has evaded him, and Euro 2024 was likely to be his last chance to rectify this. Unfortunately, France didn’t deliver and crashed out in the semi-finals after a rather uninspiring tournament.
Despite this disappointment, Deschamps is still considered one of the best international managers around, having reached another semi-final. However, after the 2-1 defeat to Spain in Munich, there could be a lot of question marks over his future.
“I’ve just lost a semi-final. You know how my president thinks. Maybe you shouldn’t have even asked this question.”
The Champions League continues to captivate audiences, with the group stage draw set to take place soon. The FIFA World Cup in 2026, hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, is also on the horizon, while the Women’s World Cup is set to kick off in Australia and New Zealand later this year.
Domestic Football Competitions
In domestic football, the Premier League, EFL Cup, EFL Championship, EFL One, EFL Two, and FA Cup are all gearing up for another thrilling season. The Africa Cup of Nations standings are also being closely monitored by fans and pundits alike.
