France Miss Mbappe in Euro 2024 Stalemate

In a highly anticipated Group D clash at the Leipzig Stadium, France were left frustrated as they played out a goalless draw against the Netherlands in their Euro 2024 encounter. The absence of talisman Kylian Mbappe was deeply felt, as the 23-year-old French forward sat out the match due to a broken nose sustained in their opening game victory.

Mbappe’s presence was sorely missed, with Les Bleus failing to find the back of the net in his absence. This marked the third time France have failed to score in a major tournament game since Mbappe’s debut in 2017, the previous two instances being against Denmark at the 2018 World Cup and Tunisia at the 2022 World Cup.

The stalemate also ended a long-standing run at the European Championships, as it was the first goalless draw in the competition since June 2021, when England faced Scotland at Wembley Stadium during Euro 2020.

“French fans and neutrals alike will be eager to see Mbappe return to the starting lineup for their final group game against Poland on Tuesday, as they look to secure their spot in the knockout stages of Euro 2024. The team’s ability to cope without their talisman will be put to the test once again, as they aim to bounce back from this disappointing result.”
