The Netherlands Face Turkey in Euro 2024 Quarter-Final

The Netherlands face the lowest-ranked team left in the Euro 2024 tournament, Turkey, in the final quarter-final tie this weekend.

The Dutch emphatically returned to form after a convincing 3-0 last-16 win over Romania, while Turkey stunned Austria 2-1 to reach the last eight.

Ronald Koeman’s side looked set for a quick reunion with Ralf Rangnick’s men, who beat them 3-2 last week in a result that saw them top Group D ahead of Oranje and France. However, world No. 42 Turkey, the only nation outside the top 20 still in the competition, eliminated Austria to face the Netherlands instead.

“The final result is always the most important thing,” he said. “But this is the level. If we go down [from this], we don’t reach the final.”

The winner of this clash will set up a semi-final showdown with either England or Switzerland on the more favorable side of the draw.

This Euro 2024 quarter-final match will take place on Saturday, July 6, with kick-off at the Olympiastadion Berlin – the stadium for the tournament final – set for 8pm UK time.

talkSPORT 2 will have live coverage of the game, with Hugh Woozencroft serving as your presenter. Commentary will come from Joe Shennan and former England striker Darren Bent.

The game will also be broadcast live and free-to-air on ITV One, allowing Three Lions fans to tune in on TV and via ITVX online or on mobile and tablet devices.

Ajax star Steven Bergwijn was a surprise starter against Romania but was hooked at half-time and is unlikely to keep his place here. In his place, Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen scored twice and has surely done enough to join Memphis Depay and Gakpo in attack.

Turkey, meanwhile, can welcome back captain Hakan Calhanoglu and defender Samet Akaydin after both players served one-match bans. However, midfield duo Orkun Kokcu and Ismail Yuksek each received their second cautions of Euro 2024 and are now sidelined.
