Despite the success, Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has firmly dismissed suggestions that Klopp could be persuaded to reverse his decision to step down at the end of the season. The German manager’s decision to place his trust in the club’s Kirkby prospects was a significant factor in Liverpool’s triumph, and Gomez emphasized the team’s determination to bid Klopp farewell in style. “We know it’s that last hurrah and we just want to give our all for him. We always did but now when the finishing line is in sight it adds that extra emphasis,” the defender said.
With Klopp’s contract extension at Liverpool set to expire in 2026, the club had not ruled out the possibility of renewing the deal amid interest from the German national team. However, the 56-year-old informed the Liverpool hierarchy of his decision to step down in November, two months before the announcement to the club’s supporters.
