Football News Update: Manchester United Consider Swap Deal for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi

In a move to bolster their defensive options, Manchester United are reportedly considering a swap deal offer to Crystal Palace for England international Marc Guehi. The Red Devils have been hit hard by injuries in the center-back department during the 2023/24 campaign, with their best defender, Lisandro Martinez, unavailable for the majority of the season due to injury.

With Raphael Varane set to depart the club this summer amid interest from the Saudi Pro League, Manchester United’s new-look recruitment team, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are tasked with identifying a suitable partner for Martinez as an upgrade on Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

According to reports, the Red Devils are prepared to offer defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka back to his former club, Crystal Palace, as part of a swap deal to acquire the services of Guehi, who impressed for England in their Euro 2024 opener against Serbia.

Crystal Palace have reportedly placed a £65 million-plus price tag on Guehi, drawing comparisons to Everton’s valuation of Jarrad Branthwaite, who is also a target for Manchester United. The Selhurst Park club are already preparing to hold talks with Guehi over a new contract, but should those negotiations fail, they are unwilling to entertain bids below the £65 million mark.

The potential swap deal involving Wan-Bissaka could prove to be a more cost-effective and straightforward option for Manchester United compared to pursuing Branthwaite, who Everton have priced at £70 million.

With the Premier League transfer window set to open soon, football fans will be eagerly awaiting developments on this potential move as Manchester United aim to strengthen their defensive lineup ahead of the new season and their Champions League campaign.
