Manchester United Eye PSG Midfielder Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte as they look to bolster their central midfield options this summer.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan international, who is part of his country’s Copa America squad, made 34 appearances in all competitions for the French champions last season. Ugarte joined PSG from Sporting Lisbon for a reported £51.1 million last summer, with his contract at the Parc des Princes running until June 2028.

“Man Utd’s other main priorities this summer are securing a new striker and central defender.”

The club remains in talks with the representatives of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, who has a €40 million (£33.8 million) release clause. Discussions are ongoing over a potential move for the Netherlands striker, who is currently with the Dutch national team at Euro 2024 in Germany.

Additionally, Manchester United are still interested in Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, but the club has yet to follow up on their initial offer, which was rejected. The England defender remains a primary target, but Everton’s £70 million asking price has not yet been reduced.

Other Transfer Targets

Erik ten Hag’s side has also made initial contact with Lille over the signing of 18-year-old central defender Leny Yoro, who is among the young centre-backs United are considering. The club is also interested in Yoro’s Lille team-mate, Canadian forward Jonathan David, who is in the final year of his contract.

The 2024 summer transfer window in the Premier League and Scottish Premiership is officially open and will close on August 30 at 11 pm UK time in England and 11:30 pm in Scotland.
