Football News Update: Midfielders Depart Lincoln City
In a blow to Lincoln City’s squad, midfielders Danny Mandroiu and Teddy Bishop are unlikely to feature for the club again, according to Imps boss Michael Skubala. The out-of-contract pair have failed to agree on new terms with the League One side.
Mandroiu and Bishop Depart Lincoln City
Mandroiu, 25, has been a key player for Lincoln City since joining from Irish club Shamrock Rovers in the summer of 2022. The midfielder has netted 14 goals in 56 league appearances for the Imps. Meanwhile, 27-year-old Bishop arrived at the LNER Stadium a year earlier from Ipswich Town and has made 112 appearances, scoring 15 goals across all competitions.
“I’ll never say never, because the door isn’t closed on anybody in that situation, but let’s be fair, it’s probably unlikely to see them in a Lincoln shirt again,” Skubala told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.
This news will undoubtedly be a significant loss for Lincoln City as they prepare for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, Champions League, and the FIFA World Cup taking place later this year. The departure of these talented midfielders will leave a void in the Imps’ lineup that the club will need to address swiftly.
Fans of the Premier League, EFL Cup, EFL Championship, EFL One, EFL Two, and FA Cup will be closely following the developments at Lincoln City as the team looks to navigate the challenges ahead without Mandroiu and Bishop. The Africa Cup of Nations standings will also be of interest to those keeping an eye on the wider football landscape.
