Jamal Musiala has left England fans in awe after his stunning performance in Germany’s 5-1 victory over Scotland in their Euro 2024 opener.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who could have represented England, starred for the host nation in Munich, scoring a spectacular goal in the first half to put Germany 2-0 up.
Following a fine setup by Kai Havertz, Musiala unleashed a powerful right-footed strike into the top corner of the net, showcasing his immense talent and leaving the England supporters wondering what might have been had he chosen to play for the Three Lions.
Musiala, who has already won 30 caps for Germany at the senior level, was born in Stuttgart but spent his formative years in England, representing Southampton, Chelsea, and the England youth teams up to the under-21 level before deciding to commit his international future to the country of his birth.
The hosts were rampant in the opening half, with Florian Wirtz putting them ahead in the 10th minute before Musiala’s stunning strike. Havertz then converted a penalty just before halftime after Ryan Porteous was sent off for a high challenge on Ilkay Gundogan.
In the second half, Niclas Fullkrug and Emre Can added two more goals for Germany, while Scotland’s only consolation came through an own goal by former Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.
