Football News: Pardington Joins Lincoln as Backup Goalkeeper, Eyes Cup Game Opportunities
In a move that aims to strengthen the club’s goalkeeping depth, Lincoln has secured the services of young goalkeeper Pardington, who is set to serve as the backup to Danish shot-stopper Lukas Jensen.
Pardington, who recently had a taste of League One football with Cheltenham last season, is eager to continue his development and earn more playing time. “I have still got a long way to go; I’m young but in order to progress, try to be selected for some cup games and whatever playing time I can get,” the promising goalkeeper stated.
Strengthening the Goalkeeping Department
Lincoln’s director of football, Jez George, expressed the club’s desire to have someone who can truly embrace the role of a number two goalkeeper. “We want someone to relish the role of being our number two goalkeeper, to push Lukas and strive to challenge for the number one spot in the future,” George said.
The move comes as Lincoln looks to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, Champions League, FIFA World Cup, and Women’s World Cup campaigns. The club also has its sights set on improving their performance in the Premier League, EFL Cup, EFL Championship, EFL One, EFL Two, and FA Cup.
With Pardington’s arrival, Lincoln hopes to create a healthy competition between the goalkeepers, pushing each other to reach new heights and strengthen the team’s overall defensive capabilities.
