Football News Update: Euro 2024 Quarter-Finals

The highly anticipated Euro 2024 quarter-finals are upon us, and one of the standout fixtures sees Portugal take on France in a mouthwatering clash this Friday night, live on talkSPORT.

Cristiano Ronaldo overcame tears during his country’s last-16 tie against Slovenia to score during their penalty shootout victory. The icon couldn’t prevent his emotions from taking over after he missed a spot-kick in extra-time, but goalkeeper Diogo Costa stepped up to help send Selecao through.

“Without a doubt, it’s the last Euro [for me], of course it is,” he said. “But I’m not emotional about that. I’m moved by everything that football entails, by the enthusiasm I have for the game, the enthusiasm I see in the fans, having my family here, people’s passion.”

That win set up an incredible final-eight meeting with Les Bleus, who sent Belgium home thanks to an own goal from Jan Vertonghen. Kylian Mbappe will now meet Ronaldo and co in a monumental match, with a place in the semi-finals against either Germany or Spain on the line.
