Football News: Harry Smith Joins Swindon Town in Permanent Move

In the latest football news, former Sutton United forward and free agent Harry Smith has signed a permanent deal with Swindon Town. The 29-year-old striker returns to the County Ground, having previously played there on loan from Millwall in 2017.

Last season, Smith made 42 appearances for Sutton United, finding the back of the net 14 times across all competitions. The move comes as Sutton United were relegated back to the National League.

“As soon as I spoke to the manager [Mark Kennedy], I knew it was somewhere I wanted to be playing my football this season. I’m coming back a much different person and a much-improved player.”

The club has not disclosed the length of Smith’s contract with Swindon Town. This signing is expected to bolster Swindon’s offensive line-up as they compete in the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, Champions League, and the anticipated 2023 FIFA World Cup in North America.

Football fans will be keeping a close eye on Harry Smith’s performance in the Premier League, EFL Cup, EFL Championship, EFL One, EFL Two, and the FA Cup this season. The transfer news comes amidst the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, where teams are vying for a spot in the prestigious Women’s World Cup later this year.
