The wait is almost over as England’s quest for Euro 2024 glory begins. Gareth Southgate’s side, who were runners-up three years ago, will face a talented Serbia team in their opening Group C match at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday at 8 pm.
Officiating the highly anticipated match will be experienced Italian referee Daniele Orsato. The 48-year-old Orsato has overseen several high-profile fixtures, including the 2020 Champions League final and the 2022 World Cup opener between Qatar and Ecuador. Orsato will be assisted by Ciro Carbone and Alessandro Giallatini, while the fourth official is Slovakia’s Ivan Kruzliak. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties will be handled by another Italian, Massimiliano Irrati, who was the VAR official for the 2018 World Cup final between France and Croatia.
