Football News Update: Toni Duggan to Depart Everton at the End of June

Everton Women’s chief executive officer, Alan McTavish, has announced that Toni Duggan will be leaving the club when her contract expires at the end of the month. Duggan, a 32-year-old forward, has had two spells with Everton, including a successful stint in 2010 when she won the FA Cup.

The English international has also represented her country with distinction, earning 79 caps for the Lionesses. Duggan was part of the England squad that finished third in the 2015 Women’s World Cup, defeating Germany in the third-place play-off.

“Everyone at Everton thanks Toni for her service and commitment to the club,” said McTavish. “From breaking into the senior team as a 16-year-old to winning the FA Cup, she can be very proud of her contribution to Everton.”

Beyond her time at Everton, Duggan has enjoyed a successful career, playing for other notable clubs such as Manchester City, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid.

Duggan rejoined Everton in 2021 and was a regular fixture in the team, playing in all but one of the club’s matches that season. In March 2023, she gave birth to her daughter, Luella.

As the football community prepares for the upcoming Euro 2024, Champions League, and FIFA World Cup, Duggan’s departure from Everton marks the end of an era for the club and the player. Her legacy at Everton, as well as her impressive international career, will undoubtedly be remembered by fans and the wider football community.
