Football News Update: Vitesse Arnhem Facing Potential Bankruptcy After License Revocation

This development comes after a joint investigation by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism and the Guardian, which revealed apparent financial connections between Vitesse and former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. The investigation found that Abramovich had secretly bankrolled the club with at least €117m in loans through a network of offshore companies.
Vitesse’s close ties to Abramovich, who was sanctioned following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, have also come under scrutiny. The KNVB’s decision to dock 18 points from the club earlier this year for repeated breaches of licensing regulations and providing incorrect information to investigating authorities further exacerbated the club’s troubles.
