Football News Update: Birmingham City Bolster Squad with Winger Emil Hansson Acquisition
In the latest Football News, Birmingham City have announced the signing of winger Emil Hansson from Dutch club Heracles Almelo. The 26-year-old Norwegian has agreed to a three-year contract, becoming the fourth new addition to the squad since the recent appointment of manager Chris Davies.
Hansson, who has spent the last four years playing in the Netherlands, scored five goals in 24 appearances for Heracles last season in the Eredivisie, the top flight of Dutch football. Discussing his move, the player expressed his excitement about Birmingham City’s plans for the upcoming season, stating,
“I had a really good talk with Chris Davies and (coach) Craig Gardner. They told me about the plans this club has, especially for what we want to achieve next season – it was something I could not say no to.”
Birmingham City have been busy in the transfer market, having previously brought in goalkeepers Ryan Allsop and Bailey Peacock-Farrell, as well as striker Alfie May, as they look to bounce back from last season’s relegation to League One. The Blues will start the new campaign with a home game against Reading.
