Football News: Chelsea Pursues Omorodion, Explores Attacking Options
In the world of European football, Chelsea have been actively exploring various transfer options to bolster their attacking prowess. The Premier League giants have held talks with Atletico Madrid regarding the 20-year-old Spanish striker Samu Omorodion.
According to reports, the La Liga side has discouraged Chelsea from making further approaches after the Blues’ initial offer of £34 million, including add-ons, was turned down. Omorodion, who is highly regarded, scored nine goals in 35 appearances last season while on loan at Deportivo Alaves, and Atletico are now attempting to renew his contract.
In addition to Omorodion, Chelsea have sounded out multiple attacking targets this summer. The club has discussed a potential swap deal involving Aston Villa’s 20-year-old Colombian striker Jhon Duran and their 22-year-old Dutch defender Ian Maatsen.
Furthermore, the Blues have expressed interest in Stuttgart’s 28-year-old Guinea forward Serhou Guirassy, who has a release clause worth around £15 million active this summer.
Elsewhere, Chelsea have been granted permission by Crystal Palace to discuss a move for 22-year-old winger Michael Olise. However, the Blues face competition from Newcastle United and Bayern Munich for the player, as Olise has a release clause worth in the region of £60 million, and any potential deal will be complex, with percentages due to his former club Reading, Palace, and Olise himself.
In addition to their pursuit of attacking talent, Chelsea have already completed the signing of 26-year-old English defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham. The club is also closing in on a £29 million move for 17-year-old Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian, though he won’t join until after his 18th birthday next summer.
As the summer transfer window continues to unfold, Chelsea’s efforts to strengthen their squad and challenge for silverware in the upcoming season, including the Premier League, EFL Cup, FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League, will be closely watched by football enthusiasts.
