Football News Update: Bristol Rovers Sign Promising Defender Dan Ellison from Chippenham Town

Bristol Rovers has secured the signing of defender Dan Ellison from National League South side Chippenham Town. The 19-year-old centre-back has penned a two-year deal with the Pirates, joining the squad after an impressive campaign in the sixth tier.

Ellison, who came through the Chippenham Town academy, made 30 appearances for the club last season, finding the net on four occasions. His performances have caught the eye of Bristol Rovers’ head coach, Matt Taylor, who expressed his excitement about the young talent’s potential.

“Dan has impressed on his journey in the National League so far and, at 19, has the potential to grow and develop even further,” said Taylor. “We are looking forward to working closely with Dan and helping him in his progression at the club. The local non-league scene will also continue to be monitored closely as we look to grow links with all clubs near to the Bristol area.”

Chippenham manager Gary Horgan spoke highly of Ellison’s attributes, highlighting his maturity, aggression, and composure on the ball.

“He showed good maturity and good aggression to win headers, tackles and a calmness and composure when he had the ball,” Horgan told BBC Radio Wiltshire. “We were quite optimistic that he could make the step up.”

Ellison’s arrival marks Bristol Rovers’ fourth summer signing in as many days, following the additions of striker Ruel Sotiriou, defender Clinton Mola, and midfielder Isaac Hutchinson. The club’s commitment to strengthening its defensive line and nurturing young talent is evident in this latest acquisition.

As the anticipation builds for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, Champions League, FIFA World Cup, and Women’s World Cup, Bristol Rovers fans will be eager to see how Ellison’s journey unfolds at the Memorial Stadium. The Africa Cup of Nations standings and the latest Premier League, EFL Cup, EFL Championship, EFL One, EFL Two, and FA Cup news will also be closely followed by football enthusiasts.
