Football News Update: Charlton Athletic Sign Striker Gassan Ahadme from Ipswich Town

In a significant move in the summer transfer window, Charlton Athletic have secured the signing of striker Gassan Ahadme from Ipswich Town. The 23-year-old forward, who spent last season on loan at Cambridge United, where he netted 13 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions, has joined the League One club on a four-year contract.

Charlton manager Nathan Jones expressed his delight at securing Ahadme, describing him as a “number one target.” The Spanish-born striker, who has represented Morocco at the youth international level, previously played for Norwich City and Burton Albion before his move to Ipswich Town in September 2022.

“Since the first time I spoke with Nathan, I was impressed with the things that he told me, and especially the energy that I felt from him and the things that he wants to do,” Ahadme told the club’s website. “It’s a really ambitious project and that’s why I’m excited to be here.”

The signing of Ahadme marks the Addicks’ sixth new addition of the summer transfer window as they prepare for the upcoming League One season. Charlton will kick off their campaign with an away match against Wigan Athletic on Saturday, 10 August.
