Crawley Town Bolsters Midfield with Antony Papadopoulos Signing

Crawley, England – In a move that strengthens their squad ahead of the upcoming season, Crawley Town have announced the signing of midfielder Antony Papadopoulos from Welling United on a two-year deal.

The 21-year-old Papadopoulos made 70 appearances for the Kent-based club, Welling United, where he found the back of the net on four occasions. Last season, Welling United finished 17th in the National League South, with Papadopoulos contributing three goals in 41 games.

Before joining Welling United in 2022, the young midfielder came through the academy at Leyton Orient, a notable addition to his footballing journey.

Crawley Town, who secured promotion to the third tier after a 2-0 victory against Crewe Alexandra in the League Two play-off final at Wembley, are excited about the acquisition of Papadopoulos.

In an interview with the club’s website, Papadopoulos expressed his enthusiasm, stating:

“I feel like I really came into my own last season, and I had a lot of appearances, and it has always been my ambition to get back into the EFL, so I am really happy to be here as it is an exciting time for the club, and I can’t wait for the season to start.”

This signing is expected to bolster Crawley Town’s midfield as they prepare to compete in the upcoming EFL League One campaign, where they will look to build upon their recent success and push for further progression in the football pyramid.
