Football News: Gillingham Bolster Squad with Aaron Rowe Signing
In a move that is sure to excite their fans, Gillingham have secured the signing of former Huddersfield Town winger Aaron Rowe on a permanent contract. The 23-year-old midfielder spent the previous season on loan at Crewe Alexandra, where he made 47 appearances across all competitions and started in their League Two play-off final defeat to Crawley Town.
Rowe, who has spent his entire professional career with the Terriers, has also enjoyed loan spells at Boston United, Bromley, and Stockport County. Following his release from Huddersfield at the end of the season, Rowe expressed his enthusiasm about the new challenge, stating,
“I am buzzing, when I heard of the interest I was really excited.”
The tricky winger, known for his dribbling skills and risk-taking, will be expected to provide goals and assists for Gillingham, who finished the previous campaign in 12th place in League Two. Rowe’s acquisition is part of the club’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their squad, which has already seen the signings of fellow winger Jack Nolan from Accrington Stanley, midfielder Armani Little from AFC Wimbledon, and Crewe striker Elliott Nevitt.
As the build-up to the 2024-25 season continues, Gillingham fans will be hoping that Rowe’s arrival can help the team mount a serious challenge for promotion from the fourth tier of English football. With the Euro 2024 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, the signing of Rowe could also boost the player’s chances of earning a call-up to the national squad.
