Football News: Euro 2024, Champions League, and Other Key Updates
Spain’s preparations for their Euro 2024 semi-final have been dealt an early blow, with Dani Carvajal and Robin le Normand set to miss out. The Real Madrid and Real Sociedad defenders are key players for La Roja, but Spain will have to find a way to manage without them against France.
Carvajal received two yellow cards in Spain’s 2-1 win over Germany in the quarter-final, meaning he will miss the crucial semi-final clash. The experienced Spaniard picked up both bookings in extra-time after Florian Wirtz’s late strike initially saved Germany. After Spain’s last-gasp winner through Mikel Merino, Carvajal sacrificed himself for the team by hauling down Jamal Musiala in the dying moments.
Similarly, Le Normand is also banned from the semi-final after being booked during Spain’s second group game against Italy and then again in the Germany match.
“Spain will now play France for a place in the Euro 2024 final, and if they win, they will face England or Netherlands. Should they reach the showpiece, Carvajal and Le Normand will be free to return.”
