Football News Update: Gillingham Sign Euan Williams from Charlton Athletic
In a significant move for the upcoming football season, Gillingham have announced the signing of former Charlton Athletic midfielder Euan Williams on a permanent contract. The 21-year-old Northern Ireland international had been training with the Gills and is now available for their League Two opener at home against Carlisle United.
Williams, who came through the academy at Charlton, made his debut for the club in the EFL Trophy last year. He has also represented Northern Ireland at the under-19 and under-21 levels, bringing valuable experience to Gillingham’s squad.
“I have enjoyed settling in with the lads, we have had quite a few games over the past few weeks which has been really good,” Williams told the club’s official website. “I am very high energy, I like to play forward and run forward, I make runs in behind. I am nice, neat and tidy on the ball and I create chances. Hopefully I can pop up with a few goals as well.”
This signing marks Gillingham’s seventh addition to the squad during the summer transfer window, as the team prepares for the upcoming League Two campaign. Fans will be eager to see Williams in action and how he can contribute to the club’s quest for promotion.
