Football News: England Falter Against Denmark in Euro 2024 Clash
Former England striker Alan Shearer expressed his outrage as Gareth Southgate’s side put in a below-par performance, squandering their lead against Denmark in a crucial Euro 2024 group stage match.
In the game played on June 13th, 2024, England had taken an early lead, courtesy of a goal from captain Harry Kane. However, the team’s performance soon deteriorated, allowing Denmark to gain control of the match. Commentator Guy Mowbray summed up the mood, saying, “I don’t know tonight whether to buy you a drink, give you a hug, or buy you some blood pressure tablets.”
Shearer, working as a BBC pundit, was highly critical of England’s display, particularly their lack of coordination in the pressing game and the inaccuracy of their passing. He said, “You can talk about the energy and the pressure and everything else: their passing still hasn’t been good enough either. There’s been far too many passes gone astray, simply passes. Don’t look at me and say the pitch is bobbly.”

The result leaves England in a strong position to qualify from their group, having collected four points from their first two games. However, Shearer warned that Southgate will face “serious questions” about the team’s performance and that the manager will understand the need to address the issues.
