Football News: Lincoln Sign Promising Goalkeeper Zach Jeacock on Free Transfer
In a move that bolsters their goalkeeping options, Lincoln Football Club have announced the signing of former Birmingham City shot-stopper Zach Jeacock on a free transfer. The 23-year-old English goalkeeper has agreed to a two-year deal with the Imps, with the club also retaining an option for a further 12 months.
Jeacock, a former England Under-19 international, made his senior debut for Birmingham City in a 1-0 Championship victory over Brentford back in September 2020. His most recent appearance for the Blues came in April 2022, after which he had loan spells with Salford and non-league Gloucester before being released earlier this year.
“We have signed Zach because we see him as a potential future No.1 goalkeeper,” said Lincoln’s director of football, Jez George. “Zach will train with us throughout pre-season, and then we will find a loan that can provide him with a platform to play 40+ games at the best possible level.”
The announcement comes as Lincoln prepare for the upcoming League One campaign, which they will begin with an away fixture against Burton Albion on 10 August. Fans and pundits will be eager to see how Jeacock’s arrival bolsters the Imps’ goalkeeping options and contributes to their performance in the new season.
As the Euro 2024 qualifiers, Champions League, and FIFA World Cup loom large on the football calendar, the signing of Zach Jeacock by Lincoln could be a strategic move to develop young talent and potentially uncover the next generation of goalkeeping stars.
