Football News Update: Diaz Denies Move to Manchester City, Remains Committed to Liverpool

In a surprise turn of events, talkSPORT sources close to both Liverpool and Manchester City have denied reports that Luis Diaz has agreed to move to the Etihad Stadium. The news comes after shock claims from Spanish outlet El Chiringuito that the Colombia international had agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions in a £60 million transfer.

However, talkSPORT understands that these reports are wide off the mark, and Liverpool have no intention of selling the winger. Diaz, who has been with the Reds since January 2022, has expressed his commitment to the club and his desire to continue winning trophies at Anfield.

“The process and progression that I’ve been going through up to the present time is just incredible. I’ve really learned a huge amount of things and I’m feeling that more and more all the time, not just in terms of my football but in my decision-making generally. Personally, I also feel in a really good place.”

The 26-year-old also revealed his ambitions for the future, saying:

“I can see myself winning lots of trophies with this great club, starting with trying to win everything that is up for grabs this season. And doing exactly what I know best, which is playing football, scoring goals, making assists.”

Diaz’s performances have been a crucial part of Liverpool’s success since his arrival, helping the club to FA Cup and Carabao Cup victories in his first six months, as well as a Community Shield triumph in 2022. Last season, he added another Carabao Cup to his growing collection of trophies.

While Manchester City have been reported to be in the market for a forward player, with the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid, it remains to be seen whether Diaz would be the right fit in a squad that already boasts the talents of Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish.

As the transfer window continues, all eyes will be on Diaz’s future, but for now, it appears he remains firmly committed to Liverpool and their pursuit of more silverware in the upcoming season.
