Newcastle Youngster Minteh Agrees Terms for £40M Move Amid Liverpool Interest

According to reports, Newcastle United youngster Yankuba Minteh has “agreed terms” to depart the Premier League club, with Liverpool among the interested parties. The 19-year-old winger impressed during his loan spell at Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord last season, grabbing ten goals and five assists in 27 appearances.

“Me and Richard [Hughes] are going to work together when it comes to transfers but not only the two of us – there is a big backroom staff included in this as well. I think for me it is the way I have worked always and it for me is the ideal way of working because I can use the most of my time by working with the team and the time that is left will probably be a bit for the family and a bit to talk with Richard about how we can strengthen the team. But we already have a really strong team.”

Newcastle paid around £5 million to sign Minteh from Danish club Odense Boldklub during the 2023 summer transfer window. However, the youngster is yet to make his senior debut for the Magpies, as he was on loan at Feyenoord throughout the 2023/24 campaign.

With Newcastle at risk of breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, the club is reportedly “willing to sell” Minteh for a fee around £40 million. His agent, Bacary Bojang, has confirmed that the player has “agreed terms” with one club, though he did not reveal the specific club.

Everton, AS Roma, Borussia Dortmund, and Marseille are also said to be “interested” in securing Minteh’s services. The new Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot, who previously worked with Minteh at Feyenoord, has revealed that the club’s recruitment team is in talks over potential signings.

The deadline for Newcastle to submit their Profit and Sustainability Regulation (PSR) accounts is June 30, so the club will need to act quickly if they are to offload Minteh in a £40 million deal. Football enthusiasts will be closely monitoring the developments surrounding the talented winger’s future in the coming weeks.
