PSG in Talks with Man Utd Over Sancho Transfer
Paris Saint-Germain have held initial discussions with Manchester United regarding the potential signing of forward Jadon Sancho. The talks centered around the conditions of a possible deal, and Sancho is believed to be open to a move, with personal terms not expected to be a significant obstacle.
Sancho has now resumed training with the Manchester United squad and has featured in pre-season matches, mending his relationship with manager Erik ten Hag. Juventus and Sancho’s former club, Borussia Dortmund, have previously expressed interest in acquiring the winger, who is valued at £40m.
The dialogue between PSG and Manchester United remains open, as the French club has also discussed the signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte this summer. While United retain an interest in Ugarte, they are not willing to match the prices being quoted by PSG.
United are aware that PSG are keen to do business, having recently signed Joao Neves from Benfica for £50m. The player is said to be keen on a move to Old Trafford, but United are also exploring a number of other midfield options, including Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana, Real Socieded’s Martin Zubimendi, Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, and Burnley’s Sander Berge.
To facilitate a move for a midfielder, United may need to create squad space, and this could be achieved if Fulham decide to submit another bid for Scott McTominay, after having two previous offers rejected.
In other news, 16-year-old Chido Obi-Martin is in Manchester ahead of a medical with United. The player has agreed terms with the club after leaving Arsenal, opting to join United over staying with the Gunners or moving to Germany, where the offers were reportedly superior to United’s terms.
The 2024 summer transfer window officially closes on August 30 at 11pm UK time in the Premier League and 11.30pm in Scotland, with the Premier League aligning its deadline with the other major leagues in Europe.
