Football News Update: England Struggle in Euro 2024 Clash with Denmark

In a concerning performance, Gareth Southgate’s England side were fortunate to escape with a 1-1 draw against Denmark in their second Euro 2024 group game at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt.

After a shaky win against Serbia in their tournament opener, England were expected to deliver a stronger showing against the Danes. However, they played even worse than in their previous match, despite taking an early lead.

Harry Kane gave the Three Lions the advantage in the 18th minute, poking home a loose ball after Kyle Walker’s cross had taken a deflection. But England failed to build on their lead, and as in the last game, they allowed Denmark to take control.

Morten Hjulmand equalized with a powerful strike, taking advantage of a loose pass from Kane and slow reactions from Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice. The visitors were fortunate to go into the break on level terms and did not improve significantly in the second half, despite Southgate making four substitutions.

“The performance leaves many questions about England’s prospects of going deep in the Euro 2024 tournament, as they continue to struggle to find their rhythm.”

Phil Foden hit the post, and Ollie Watkins provided some threat after coming off the bench, but Denmark looked the more likely to score, and the draw was the fair result.

The focus now shifts to their next match against the Netherlands, where Southgate’s side will need to deliver a much-improved display to reassure their supporters.
