The 2023/24 regular seasons have come to a close in the EFL Championship, League One, and League Two, and football fans are already eagerly anticipating the upcoming 2024/25 campaign. When does the 2024/25 season start?
The new EFL Championship season is scheduled to kick off on the weekend of August 10/11, 2024. The fixtures for the Championship, League One, and League Two will all be released at 9am on Wednesday, June 26.
What’s new for 2024/25?
The Premier League teams relegated to the Championship for the 2024/25 season are Sheffield United and Burnley. Meanwhile, the clubs promoted from League One are Portsmouth and Derby. In League One, Rotherham, Huddersfield, and Birmingham have dropped down from the Championship. Stockport, Mansfield, and Wrexham have earned promotion from League Two.
Transfer Window and Cup Competitions
The 2024 summer transfer window in the EFL and Premier League will officially open on June 14 and close on August 30. The Carabao Cup is set to begin in mid-August, with the draw and fixtures yet to be confirmed. The group stage of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, involving League One, League Two, and 16 invited under-21 Premier League teams, will start in early September.
Watching Your Team: Sky Sports Coverage
Sky Sports will be the primary broadcaster for EFL matches in the 2024/25 season. Every League One and League Two team will feature live on Sky at least 20 times, while each of the 24 Championship clubs will be shown at least 24 times.
