Football News Update: Lincoln City FC Focused on Youth Development, Adds Experienced Talent
In a recent interview, Lincoln City FC manager Mark Skubala discussed the club’s transfer strategy, emphasizing their focus on developing young players while also bringing in experienced heads to support them.
Skubala acknowledged that having good young players in the squad often requires the presence of seasoned veterans to guide them. “When you have good young players in the building, I think sometimes they need some good experience around them and we can all agree that getting that experience right, is even more important,” he added.
The manager highlighted the recent signing of 28-year-old midfielder Conor McGrandles as an example of the club’s approach. “An older player doesn’t necessarily mean they’re right with what we’re trying to do. I think sometimes it’s tricky trying to find players that are going to add to the pitch and add to the dressing room,” Skubala said. “I think we’ve done that really well this summer.”
Regarding potential further signings, Skubala hinted at “more movement” before the end of the transfer window but played down the chances of Joe Taylor, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Lincoln, returning to the club. “I don’t think it’s a case of ‘Joe’s available on loan’ even if he is because at the moment he’s in Luton’s team and will be looking to play in the Championship which is where he’d want to play as well,” the manager explained.
Lincoln City FC will begin their League One campaign on Saturday, August 5th, with an away match against Burton Albion.
