Football News Update: Liverpool Eye Galatasaray Winger Yilmaz for Summer Transfer
Liverpool, the renowned Premier League club, are reportedly interested in signing Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz after being impressed by his performances during the Euro 2024 tournament, according to recent reports.
The Reds, under the leadership of new head coach Arne Slot, who recently replaced Jurgen Klopp, are looking to bolster their attacking options in the upcoming summer transfer window. Liverpool have already been linked with a number of wingers, including Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, but the high valuation set by the Magpies has been a deterrent.
Now, Turkish outlet Milliyet claims that the Merseyside club has set their sights on Yilmaz, the 24-year-old Turkey international, who has also reportedly caught the attention of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The reports suggest that Liverpool were “surprised” by Yilmaz’s impressive display against the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 quarter-final, where Turkey narrowly lost 2-1. Liverpool center-back Virgil van Dijk, who was on the opposing side, praised Yilmaz’s performance, stating that the winger “was running constantly” and “made it very hard for us.”
Galatasaray, Yilmaz’s current club, is said to be open to a sale for a figure much higher than the initial €30m (£25m) valuation. The increased interest from top clubs has prompted the Turkish giants to demand a higher transfer fee for their prized asset.
Meanwhile, on the future of Liverpool’s star striker Mohamed Salah, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that it has been “quiet” on the player’s situation so far this summer. Despite rumors of interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, Romano has confirmed that Liverpool has not received any formal proposals or approaches for Salah’s services at the moment.
As the summer transfer window approaches, football fans can expect more developments in Liverpool’s pursuit of Baris Alper Yilmaz and the potential future of Mohamed Salah at Anfield.
