Football News Update: Bristol Rovers Bolster Goalkeeping Ranks with Loan Signing of West Brom’s Josh Griffiths
Bristol, England – (Football News) – In a move to strengthen their goalkeeping options, Bristol Rovers have secured the services of Josh Griffiths on a season-long loan from West Bromwich Albion.
The 22-year-old Hereford-born keeper, who has been with the Baggies’ academy since the age of 10, has made 13 appearances for the Championship side. However, his playing time was limited to just three cup games in the 2023-24 season.
Griffiths, who signed a new three-year contract with West Brom in June, has gained valuable experience through previous season-long loan spells at Cheltenham Town and Lincoln City, as well as a stint at Portsmouth during the 2022-23 campaign, where he made 28 appearances across all competitions.
The young goalkeeper, who has also been called up to the England Under-21 squad for a training camp last summer, expressed his enthusiasm about the move to the League One side, stating:
“I’ve had some good conversations with the manager, and he has put across his ideas to me, what he wants from the style of play, and those talks went really well. I believe this is a really good fit for me.”
Bristol Rovers fans will be eager to see Griffiths in action as he looks to make an immediate impact and help the club in their pursuit of success in the upcoming EFL League One season.
