Football News Update: Everton Close to Signing Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille

In the latest Football News, Everton are on the verge of securing the signing of Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille. The Premier League club has agreed to a €20m (£17m) fee for the former Sheffield United forward.

The 24-year-old Senegal international is reported to have agreed personal terms on a five-year deal, having attracted interest from several other top-flight clubs, including Crystal Palace. Everton are expected to pay an initial €18.5m for Ndiaye, with an additional €1.5m in potential add-ons.

Ndiaye made a name for himself during Sheffield United’s promotion to the Premier League in 2023, but he subsequently joined Marseille for around £20m just before the start of the previous season. However, he struggled to find his form under various coaches at the French club, scoring only four goals in 46 appearances.

Everton are hopeful that Ndiaye, who is comfortable playing in multiple attacking positions, can rediscover the kind of performances that earned him 20 caps for the Senegal national team, including a starring role at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The potential signing of Ndiaye would be Everton’s third summer acquisition, following the arrivals of Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa and the loan extension of Jack Harrison from Leeds United. The Toffees have also confirmed that veteran defender Ashley Young has signed a new one-year contract.
