Football News: Grimsby Town Bolsters Squad with Luca Barrington Loan Signing
Grimsby Town, the EFL League Two club, have secured the signing of winger Luca Barrington from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion on a season-long loan deal.
The Signing
The 19-year-old Barrington, who is yet to make his first-team debut for Brighton, has made seven appearances for their Under-21 squad in the EFL Trophy. Grimsby Town, who finished 21st in League Two last season, will kick off their 2024-25 campaign with an away match against Fleetwood on Saturday.
“We’re excited to have Luca โ he’s an excellent, technical player who’s going to provide us with something a bit different. He’s a versatile forward who can play off both flanks and likes to get in behind the opposition.”
- David Artell, Grimsby Town head coach
This loan move represents Barrington’s first taste of senior-level football, as he looks to gain valuable experience and make an impact for the Mariners in the upcoming EFL League Two season.
Bolstering the Squad
Grimsby Town’s squad has been bolstered by Barrington’s arrival, being the club’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window. Fans and supporters will be eager to see the young winger in action as the team aims to improve upon their previous campaign’s performance in the EFL League Two.
