Football News Update: Newcastle Eye Chelsea’s Noni Madueke Ahead of Euro 2024 and Champions League Push

In a move that could bolster their squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers and Champions League campaign, Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.

The 23-year-old English star, who has impressed in pre-season with three goals in five games, could be on the move as Chelsea look to balance their books after the recent signing of Wolves forward Pedro Neto for a fee of around £51 million.

Madueke, who joined the Blues in January 2022 for £28.5 million from PSV Eindhoven, has gradually found his feet at Stamford Bridge, scoring five Premier League goals in 23 appearances last season. However, with the arrival of Neto and the wealth of attacking options at Chelsea, his playing time could be further limited under new manager Enzo Maresca.

The Magpies, who secured a shock Champions League spot in the 2022/23 season but finished seventh last term, are keen to bolster their squad as they aim to return to Europe’s elite club competition. Manager Eddie Howe has already strengthened his squad with the signings of goalkeepers Odysseas Vlachodimos and John Ruddy, as well as defenders Lloyd Kelly and Miodrag Pivas.

“Madueke, a seasoned England youth international with 20 caps and seven goals for the U21s, could provide the Tyneside club with an exciting attacking option as they look to challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League and make a mark in the Champions League.”

The potential move could also have implications for current Newcastle player Miguel Almiron, who has previously been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

With the 2023/24 season fast approaching, football fans will be eagerly awaiting developments on this potential transfer and how it could impact the landscape of the Premier League, Champions League, and the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.
