Notts County Sign Experienced Defender Rod McDonald

Notts County, a prominent club in the English Football League (EFL), have bolstered their defensive line with the signing of 32-year-old Rod McDonald from league rivals Harrogate Town. The transfer fee remains undisclosed.

McDonald, who has an impressive track record of over 200 games in the EFL, has signed a two-year contract with Notts County. The seasoned defender has previously enjoyed successful spells, including promotion-winning campaigns with Coventry City and Northampton Town in League Two.

“Rod, with his proven track record as a strong EFL defender, adds fantastic depth to our back line,” Notts County’s Director of Football, Richard Montague, expressed. “He has won two promotions from this division and was named Crewe’s player of the season in 2022-23, so we have every confidence he’s going to be a brilliant addition to the squad.”

The move to Meadow Lane provides McDonald with an opportunity to continue his career in the EFL, where he has showcased his defensive prowess over the years. His previous experience at clubs like Crewe, Carlisle, and AFC Wimbledon further bolsters his credentials as a reliable and experienced EFL player.

As the new season approaches, Notts County fans can look forward to seeing McDonald in action as the team aims to make a strong push for promotion in the upcoming competitions:
