Football News Update: EFL Cup Draw Revealed for 2024-25 Season
The Draw for the 2024-25 EFL Cup Announced
According to the new EFL television deal, all 93 Carabao Cup games will be broadcast on Sky Sports next season, ensuring that fans won’t miss a moment of the action.
Notably, Luton, Burnley, and Sheffield United, who were relegated from the Premier League, will enter the draw in the second round, along with 13 other top-flight teams. Holders Liverpool, who are among the seven teams involved in European competition next season, will join the proceedings in the third round.
Regionalised First Round
The first round will be regionalised into northern and southern sections, with 38 teams in the northern half and 32 in the southern half. This format will ensure that teams from different parts of the country have a fair chance of progressing in the tournament.
“Intriguing matchups are already on the cards, including Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle hosting Cheltenham Town and West Bromwich Albion travelling to Fleetwood Town, both featuring Championship sides against League Two opponents.”
Despite the potential for a clash of fixtures with European competitions, the EFL has confirmed that the semi-finals of this year’s Carabao Cup will continue to be played across two legs in the 2024-25 season.
As the countdown to the new football season begins, fans can look forward to an exciting and unpredictable EFL Cup campaign, with the potential for some giant-killing performances and memorable moments.
