Football News: Bayern Munich Pursue Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise
In a significant development in the world of football, Bayern Munich have expressed serious interest in acquiring Crystal Palace’s rising star, Michael Olise. The Bundesliga giants have already held talks with Olise’s representatives about activating the release clause in his Palace contract, which is reportedly around £60 million.
Chelsea and Manchester United Also Interested
This news comes as Chelsea have also made an approach to Crystal Palace, while Manchester United are planning their squad shake-up after confirming Erik ten Hag will remain as manager next season. Olise’s contract with the Eagles runs until 2027, but a move away from Selhurst Park this summer appears increasingly likely.
Olise’s Rise to Stardom
The 22-year-old midfielder has been a revelation since making his Palace debut in 2021, following an £8.3 million switch from Reading. Olise has gone on to score 16 goals in 90 appearances for the Eagles, earning rave reviews for his performances.
Bayern Munich’s Interest and Kompany’s Connection
The incoming Bayern Munich head coach, Vincent Kompany, is well aware of Olise’s talents, having managed him during his time at Burnley. Kompany has identified the French under-21 international as a priority target, with the future of Joshua Kimmich still uncertain.
A move to Bavaria would see Olise link up with compatriots Dayot Upamecano, Kingsley Coman, Sacha Boey, and Mathys Tel, and could also open the door to Didier Deschamps’ talented first-team squad, with N’Golo Kante and Antoine Griezmann both in their 30s.
Crystal Palace’s Dilemma and Other Interested Clubs
While Crystal Palace will be reluctant to lose their star player, the substantial fee would provide boss Oliver Glasner with an opportunity for further investment in the squad. Olise’s inspired performances towards the end of the season, which saw the Eagles win six of their last seven matches, including comprehensive victories over Liverpool, Newcastle, and Manchester United, have only heightened his appeal.
Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest in Olise, but will need to offload players before making any moves due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules. Chelsea, however, may have an advantage, as Olise would not have to relocate from London should he join the Blues.
The battle for Olise’s signature is set to be an intriguing storyline in the upcoming transfer window, as Europe’s top clubs vie for the services of one of the most promising young talents in the Premier League.
